INTAKE AND ADMISSION POLICY:
Intake capacity at the department for post-graduate programme is 60 students. Department offers both Hindi and Marathi as a medium of instruction to attract the local and marginalized students despite approved medium is English.
Being Research Centre department has intake of 50 Seats for Ph.D. degree in sociology. There is no any language obligation for Ph.D.
Department encourages the social diversity along with merit and excellence for admission to the department in post-graduate as well as M.Phil. and Ph.D. programmes.
Admission to Ph.D. programme subjected to entrance test conducted by the university or qualified NET or SET examination.
Department’s unique identity is every year students from north-eastern state of India given admission and seats are kept reserved for them under special provisions by university.
The Nagpur University was established on 4th August, 1923 with six affiliated colleges and 927 students. During 1947, the number of students increased to about 9000 accompanied by the improvement and diversification of curricula and expansion in the range of subjects.
