This Department was set up in 1987-88 in this university to bring awareness of the Electronics instrumentation and Computers; and impart quality education to the students in this region. Department conducted its classes initially in the Department of Physics and later on shifted to its independent and existing building in the University campus in 1992. Currently, the Department is offering four semester (CBCS) two post graduate programmes: M. Sc. Electronics and M. Sc. Computer Science; and Ph. D. programmes in Electronics and Computer Science, in the faculty of Science and Technology. Since inception, the Department has been continuously striving to provide quality education to the students and help the students to carry out state of the art projects at the final year. The Department also conducts high quality research in Electronic instrumentation and analysis. The Department has an academic collaboration with University of Porto, Portugal and premier institutes of India such as Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur; Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Mumbai and Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology, Nagpur. Recently, the Department has signed a MOU with RedHat exploring the possibility of collaboration and empower the students to establish a career path with open source and RedHat technologies.
